To win, reach Day 3 (D3) retention of 10%, 12% or 15% with your game! For example, if 1,000 new players start playing your game on Monday, 100 of those players still need to be playing your game on Thursday to reach D3 retention of 10%.

HypeHype is currently available in the App Store and Google Play in Canada, Finland and the Philippines, but creators from any country get early access from here. Just fill in the form on the page. You will get the access usually within 48 hours of sending your request. HypeHype is free and works on mobile phones, tablets, desktops, Windows and Mac.
The HypeHype app comes with the fastest game engine on mobile and a powerful mobile game editor. Just download the HypeHype app, go the Create tab and start making games from a template, tutorial, from scratch or by remixing an existing game. You can use a mobile phone, tablet, desktop, Windows or Mac to make games.

To qualify to win D3 retention bounty, your game needs to get over 10%, 12% or 15% of players to return to play 3 days after they first start playing your game (return to play the game at least once on day 3 from the day they first played it).
The new challenge offers multiple retention targets to aim for, with the potential to win up to $100,000 USD. You now need to reach one of the following Day 3 (D3) retention rates:
10% D3 retention bounty - $10,000 USD - 100 out of 1,000 new players must still be playing by Day 3. For example, if 1,000 new players start playing your game on Monday, 100 of those players still need to be playing your game on Thursday to reach Day 3 retention of 10%.
12% D3 retention bounty - $30,000 USD - 120 out of 1,000 new players still playing by Day 3.
15% D3 retention bounty - $60,000 USD - 150 out of 1,000 new players still playing by Day 3.
Only the first game to reach each retention target (10%, 12%, and 15%) will win that specific bounty. However, if your game reaches the 15% retention target, you will automatically win the bounties for 10% and 12% as well, effectively securing all three categories.
To ensure the performance, the Day 3 retention will be checked with at least 1,000 players, meaning you will need at least 100, 120, or 150 players on Day 3 to qualify for the respective retention bounty. Once a game reaches one of the retention thresholds, HypeHype will give the winner candidate increased visibility, such as Home or ForYou feed boosts, to get 5,000 new players and verify its retention performance. After this successful verification, the prize money will be paid out.
The prize pool is still $100,000 USD, but the rules have been adjusted to allow more opportunities to win. The $100,000 USD Retention Bounty Challenge will continue until a game or more games meet the retention targets.
You can also create your game(s) together in collaboration with other people. In this case, the possible award money will be paid to the main account owner and the sharing of the prize money between the members of your team is up to you.
Once you create your first game, you’ll see game performance on the game stats dashboard, and this is where you can track your games engagement along with key metrics, data points and insights and even playtesting videos to help improve your game.
Earning is based on fair and transparent game performance.
Creators can also see game stats and rewards from other games on the platform. This can be a fantastic way to learn and improve their own games to potentially increase earnings.
Retention is the percentage of new users who come back to your game after playing it for the first time. To improve this metric, focus on your game's core loop, first-time user experience, and performance.
For example, for the Day 3 (D3) retention bounty of 10%, 100 out of 1,000 new players must still be playing the game by D3. If 1,000 new players start playing your game on Monday, 100 of those players still need to be playing your game on Thursday to reach D3 retention of 10%.

Yes! Even if your game doesn’t reach the new retention targets for the prize, you can still earn money through engagement-based payouts and in-game purchases. All games published on HypeHype are eligible for these payouts. We have shared over $96,000 USD with the creators via Creator Monetisation launched in May, 2024.
Although top game retentions have doubled since May 2024, no games reached the required Day 3 retention target of 15% by the September 15th, 2024, deadline. As a result, the grand prize $100,000 USD was not awarded.
But we wanted to celebrate and award some of the standout games created during the $100k USD challenge!

Instead of a deadline-based challenge, we’ve introduced a tier-based bounty system, which we believe is a better solution.
